1.     The 5G network has more capacity. What does that mean?

Imagine cruising through a traffic-free highway with unlimited lanes at your disposal. That's what 5G does for your data - it eliminates congestion, boosts speed, and enhances performance, making your online experience smoother and more efficient than ever before! Say goodbye to buffering and hello to seamless browsing with 5G technology.

5G stands for fifth generation and is the next leap forward in mobile network technology. 5G means downloads will take seconds, not minutes. It will mean seamless streaming, real-time gaming. 5G means a future where devices are interconnected, and immersive experiences are the norm.

Average speed - 250mbps to 300mbps.

2.     Is 5G safe?

Yes. Multiple scientific studies have been conducted to evaluate the safety of 5G, and regulatory agencies such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Commission for Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP), the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) have stated that 5G is safe.

In neighboring countries (Australia & New Zealand) with 5G, EME testing (Electromagnetic Emissions testing) has been completed and it was found that the EME levels were similar to 3G, 4G, and Wi-Fi. The EME levels measured were found to be well below the safety limits, and in many cases over a thousand times lower.

3.     Will 5G replace the existing 3G, LTE & EDGE networks?

We expect when we do deploy 5G we will offer a number of options for customers. 5G won’t be for everyone. That said, we are also looking to expand and upgrade some of our existing network, this is still in planning phase so more information will follow in due course.

4.     Will 5G replace Wi-Fi?

5G and Wi-Fi are different technologies. They will complement each other.

5.     What will happen to the 3G & 4G network?

3G and 4G will still be in use and are not disappearing anytime soon.

6.     How is 5G different from 4G?

4G made it possible for us to stream and download on the go. 5G builds on this capability and takes it further. But 5G will do more than just improve our mobile phone experience.

The increased capacity and lower latency of 5G have the potential to revolutionize the way we live – enabling technologies like smart cities and remote monitoring.

7.     What is a 5G phone?

5G phones have new hardware that requires a 5G network connection. If 5G is not yet available in your area, these devices still give you the ability to have the best network experience available by also connecting to Digicel’s LTE network. 5G unlocks new possibilities and services that only 5G-capable devices can take advantage of, such as faster speeds, lower latency, and the ability to handle more connections.

8.     How can I get 5G network on my phone?

As long as you have a 5G capable device. All Digicel Fiji prepaid, and postpaid data plans gives you access to 5G network at no extra cost.

9.     Why should I get a 5G phone?

A 5G capable phone is the only way to experience the benefits of 5G, like faster speeds and even more reliable connection.

10.     How can I activate 5G on my phone?

If you have a 5G capable phone/device and are in a 5G coverage area your phone/device will automatically connect.

You can enable 5G on your 5G capable phone if it is not automatically connected. If you are having trouble enabling 5G on your 5G capable phone, call 123 for assistance.
