Digicel PNG Renews Sponsorship of The Digicel ExxonMobil Cup

Port Moresby, 8 April 2026 - Digicel (PNG) Limited has today reaffirmed its long‑standing commitment to rugby league development in Papua New Guinea through the renewal of its principal sponsorship of the Digicel ExxonMobil Cup through to 2028.
The renewed agreement, signed with the Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League Inc. (PNG NRLC), secures Digicel’s continued support of the country’s premier national rugby league competition for the 2026–2028 seasons.
Speaking at the signing ceremony at the National Football Stadium, Digicel PNG Chief Executive Officer Tarik Boudiaf said the renewal reflects Digicel’s confidence in rugby league as a unifying national platform and a key development pathway for young Papua New Guineans.
“Digicel PNG’s partnership with PNG Rugby League is built on shared values - our commitment to keeping Papua New Guinea better connected by creating opportunities for young people and strengthening the role rugby league plays in uniting communities across the country,” Mr Boudiaf said.
“The Digicel ExxonMobil Cup provides young Papua New Guineans with a platform to develop their talent, represent their communities with pride, and pursue their aspirations through sport.”
The Digicel ExxonMobil Cup features provincial teams nationwide and is recognised as a critical development pathway within Papua New Guinea’s rugby league system.
Mr Boudiaf said Digicel PNG’s continued involvement reflects its position as a long‑term partner in development, not just a sponsor.
“At Digicel PNG, being Better Connected goes beyond technology. It means connecting people, communities, and opportunities - and supporting initiatives that strengthen youth pathways and build stronger communities across Papua New Guinea.”
PNG Rugby Football League Chief Executive Officer Stanley Hondina welcomed the renewal, acknowledging Digicel’s continued support of the competition.
The Digicel ExxonMobil Cup remains Papua New Guinea’s premier national rugby league competition and a key platform for youth development and community pride.
