DIgicel PNG Collaborates With Government to Expand 4G Connectivity in Rural Communities

Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea – Wednesday, 22 April 2026 – Digicel PNG has today signed a contract agreement with the Independent State of Papua New Guinea to deliver 4G Mobile Broadband Services to rural communities across the country.
The agreement, awarded under Tender No. NPC 2024-22 through the National Procurement Commission Board on behalf of the National Information and Communications Technology Authority (NICTA), forms part of the Government’s commitment to expanding universal access and bridging the digital divide in Papua New Guinea.
Under the project, Digicel PNG will deploy new 4G mobile infrastructure to underserved and rural areas across Papua New Guinea, including parts of Oro, Gulf, Morobe, Bougainville, and Southern Highlands Provinces.
This initiative will enable people in those areas to have greater access to essential digital services, supporting education, healthcare, financial services, and economic participation across rural Papua New Guinea.
Speaking at the signing, Acting Chief Executive Officer for Digicel PNG, Abdallah Nassar, reaffirmed Digicel PNG’s commitment to supporting national development connectivity priorities.
