Digicel Nauru renews naming rights with AFL Nauru

Nauru – Monday, 3 June 2024 Digicel Nauru today announced the renewal of its naming rights partnership with the AFL Nauru Association valued at over $128,000 in cash and in-kind.

Digicel Nauru first secured the naming rights for the AFL Nauru men’s district competition in June 2020, followed by the Women’s Open competition in 2023. This year marks a historic moment with the introduction of three exciting tournaments; the Men’s Open plus two other competitive categories, Men’s Juniors and the Women’s Open.

Kicking off at the end of May, following the Nauru Constitution festivities, the 17-week-long Digicel Cup tournament holds immense significance. It serves as the official selection ground for the Nauruan national team that will compete in the prestigious Pacific Cup held in Queensland, Australia in November.

Digicel Nauru CEO, Christopher Manaog, said; “Digicel Nauru is honoured to be the major sponsor of this popular sport in Nauru. We are committed to contributing to the effectiveness and success of this tournament dubbed Digicel Cup, as the national team prepares to select its most elite players for the Pacific Cup. This sponsorship exemplifies Digicel Nauru’s unwavering dedication to giving back to the Nauruan community, aligning perfectly with our core focus on health and sports, and the spirit of our Building Better All In for Nauru campaign.”

The sponsorship goes beyond naming rights, encompassing a wide range of official and game-day expenses, ensuring a smooth and successful tournament.
