Digicel Fiji takes joy and connection to CWM Hospital Children’s Ward

Suva, Fiji – Friday, June 6th 2025

Digicel Fiji today contributed to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital’s Children’s Ward, donating five Smart TVs, three Unwired broadband modems, and DTV app streaming services.

Children admitted to the hospital face emotional and psychological distress. Digicel Fiji’s donation will help create a kinder and more engaging environment. Four of the TVs will be located in the Children’s Ward and the Outpatient clinic, bringing comfort with free DTV viewing. This includes access to DTV’s most-watched channels, such as Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., and Love Nature, as well as a selection of children’s films and cartoons.

The fifth TV will be placed in the Pediatrics Conference Room, where it will serve as a valuable tool for physicians, nurses and medical students. It will facilitate conferences, e-learning and continuing professional development. Coupled with Unwired broadband internet modems, it will be capable of content streaming that will provide benefits for children and healthcare workers.

Outgoing Digicel Pacific Regional Hub Markets CEO, Shally Jannif, stated; “I am proud that Digicel Fiji is giving back to the community. By donating TVs and modems to the CWM Hospital’s Children’s Ward which will provide comfort and consolation to children patients at a trying time. It truly captures the Digicel Pacific essence of its commitment to our communities.”

Digicel Fiji CEO, Farid Mohammed, commented; “This donation of TVs and modems demonstrates our commitment to the community. It’s a fitting tribute to make this donation to the children’s ward and we hope it will make an impact on the lives of the children and their families. We’re honoured to assist in making the hospital surroundings more positive and stimulating for the young patients.”

Dr Laila Sauduadua, CWM Hospital’s paediatrician, said; “On behalf of the CWMH Paediatric Dept HOD, Medical Superintendent of CWM and the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, we are grateful to Digicel Fiji for this thoughtful and impactful donation. There are several benefits to having access to such technology and free internet, which will be shared by the children and their families as well as the hospital staff. The Smart TVs and access to DTV’s wonderful lineup of children’s shows and movies will help our young patients feel more at ease, entertained, and happy. And with better internet access and a conference TV, our team can continue to grow and learn together."

Through stronger, healthier communities, this gift to the Hospital embodies our collective responsibility to lift up the vulnerable members of our community.
