Aids Infoline
To commemorate World Aids Day on December 1, 2007 Digicel launched the BAHA Digicel HIV Info Line, the first mobile tollfree HIV Hotline in Papua New Guinea. The number is 7200 BAHA.

The BAHA Digicel Info Line is a Free Call line, a joint initiative of PNG Business Against HIV and AIDS (BAHA) and Digicel. This information line is PNG’s first and is aimed at helping to maintain the “low prevalence epidemic” with the national HIV prevalence which is estimate to be 1.28% among adult aged 15-49 at the end of 2006.

The BAHA Digicel HIV Info Line gives everyone in Papua New Guinea, with access to a Digicel mobile phone, access to free HIV support services. BAHA (Business Coalition Against HIV & Aids) provides HIV specific support services via the Digicel HIV InfoLine with a BAHA employee answering the calls on office hours from Monday through to Friday.

With the Digicel network accessible far and wide including more remote areas of PNG, the free calls from anywhere in PNG thus helps provide access to information for concerned citizens.

Since launching Digicel has been actively involved in supporting the community through activities such as the street vendor programme, supporting medical services through its partnership with St John Ambulance as well as donating towards Operation Open Heart. and the recent Oro disaster.
