Thursday 15th October, 2009 Fiji – Usain Bolt, the world’s fastest man, has recorded a special video message of support for all Samoans and Tongans affected by the country’s recent devastating tsunami.
Bolt, a Digicel brand ambassador, called on Samoans and Tongans to stay strong and safe after hearing of the tragedy that struck two weeks ago.
The message has coincided with the The Digicel Tsunami Relief fundraiser reaching more than FJ$850,000. The funds have been raised by the global Digicel family, with contributions from all 32 Digicel operations worldwide.
Digicel Samoa CEO Christian Fruean said, “We’d like to thank the Digicel family worldwide for responding so quickly and coming together in support for the Samoan people. The response is a tribute to our company ethos.”
