DIGICEL LAUNCHES TEXT DONATION LINE TO SUPPORT RELIEF EFFORTS IN HAITI
Digicel encourages its 10 million plus customers to ‘text a helping hand’
Friday, January 15thh, 2009 – Nadi, Fiji, Digicel Group and Digicel Pacific today launched a text donation line to enable its 10 million plus customers worldwide to donate money to the massive humanitarian relief effort that is urgently needed in Haiti.
By texting the word “HELP” to 5151, Digicel customers in any of its 32 markets worldwide can make a difference to the people of Haiti by contributing directly to the relief efforts following the earthquake that devastated Port-au-Prince and other parts of the country on Tuesday, January 12th, 2009.
Digicel will donate all funds it receives from each text to the relief efforts in Haiti. Importantly, there is no restriction on the number of texts a customer can send or make, so people are free to donate as much as they like.
